Does the meta description still matter for AI agents?
We record the page title and the length of the meta description; a title with no description is a Warning.
What it is
The title is the page's name and the meta description is its one-line summary. Both are plain text in the head, and both are read without rendering anything.
We record the title verbatim, trimmed for display, and the description as a character count. A missing title is a Fail, a title with no description is a Warning.
We do not judge length or wording. A title of your company name repeated on 50 pages passes this Check and still tells an agent nothing.
Why an agent needs it
These 2 fields are the cheapest orientation on any page. An agent deciding which of your 40 pages to fetch reads titles, not body copy.
The description is also the sentence most likely to be quoted back to a buyer. We reuse it when we write your llms.txt, which is why a broken one is left out.
The Fix
Give every page its own title naming what the page is, then the site name. Do not ship the template default on 40 pages.
Write a meta description of 1 or 2 sentences stating what the page is for. Make it a real sentence, because it is the line most likely to be quoted.
Check that no description has a gap where a figure should be, as happens when a template renders a currency with no number. We drop those sentences rather than republish them.
This one is a change in your own markup or edge configuration, so the Fix Pack cannot write it for you. A Report names every page it affects, with the Evidence.
